MODERN VINTAGE
On February 13, 2006, Tom Pollard had a 50-year-old birthday party.
It was an open jam at a little bar in Affton. That day, he, John
Vullo, Andy Waibel, Ryan Sielfleisch and Josh Stieren first played
together. Little did they know that 2 years later they would become
Modern Vintage…a classic rock covers band, with a heavy
influence of Southern Rock, Blues and some real “vintage”
music. While the younger members (Modern) bring some of their
more contemporary musical influences, it balances out with the
songs of the older (Vintage) song selection. On Labor Day of 2007,
what was briefly formed and called America’s Most Wanted,
4 of these guys launched into the scene at the St. Louis County
Fair and Air show. Soon after, Andy rejoined the group and the
band underwent a name change. Modern Vintage was born and began
playing out that March. Since then, almost every weekend has been
booked, playing at bars, clubs and events all around St. Louis.
Modern Vintage’s music selection is very eclectic. On any
given night, you’ll hear them cover Tom Petty, Eric Clapton,
The McCoy’s and Pink Floyd! The music selection comes from
the Modern Vintage Request Book. At their shows, Modern Vintage
circulates a book where patrons are encouraged to write in their
name, e-mail address and song request. Then, when the band learns
the song or artist request, they send an e-mail out to invite
them to the next show where Modern Vintage will debut their song.
